Pilot Project | Kholpa, Senegal

Greenhouse Prototype GH-A-05

In 2024, Féro started the first pilot project in a village called Kholpa in Senegal. This project was aimed to test our concept and increase the income of smallholder farmers.

During the pilot, Féro worked closely with local farmers to better understand their needs and the challenges they face in their daily farming activities. The project focused on introducing practical solutions that could improve productivity and efficiency while remaining accessible and affordable for smallholder farmers. By testing the concept on a small scale, Féro was able to gather valuable feedback from the community and measure the impact on farmers’ yields and income. The lessons learned from this pilot helped refine the approach and provided important insights for scaling the project to other villages in the future.

About Kholpa

Kholpa is a small rural village in Senegal where agriculture plays an important role in daily life. Most families in the village depend on small-scale farming as their main source of income and food. Farmers typically grow crops using traditional methods and often face challenges such as limited access to resources, knowledge, and reliable markets. Despite these challenges, the community in Kholpa has strong local knowledge of farming and a close connection to the land, making it a suitable location for testing new agricultural initiatives like Féro’s pilot project.
