The Caribbean Greenhouse
Féro has developed hurricane-resistant greenhouses designed specifically for the climate and challenges of the Caribbean. Hurricanes regularly damage crops and farmland on many islands, which leads to major harvest losses and makes local food production unreliable. Our greenhouse design helps protect crops during extreme weather conditions, allowing farmers to continue growing food even when hurricanes occur.
The structure is adapted to the Caribbean climate, using materials and a design that can withstand strong winds while still providing the right environment for crops to grow. By protecting crops from storm damage, farmers are able to reduce losses and maintain more stable production.
Currently, Féro is testing these greenhouses on Sint Maarten. The goal of this pilot is to evaluate how the greenhouses perform in real conditions and to further improve the design. In the future, Féro plans to expand this solution to neighboring Caribbean islands that face the same challenges with hurricanes and crop loss. Ultimately, our mission is to strengthen local agriculture and improve food security across the region.
